Meet Us

We are Carlos and Fleur, a multi-lingual couple from Spain and The Netherlands. Welcome to our website, welcome to our first blog and welcome to our dream-to-come-true project! Let’s start where it all began.

After getting his civil engineer degree, Carlos started working for a successful tech company in Madrid, where he learned loads, but didn’t fulfill his dream. After 2 years he left the heat of Madrid and went all the way to the cold winter of Swedish Lapland to work as an outdoor husky guide. Here, slightly different from his summer mountain adventures, he spent time in the true winter outdoors of the North, close to nature.  By the time the last snow started to melt, he returned back to his homeland to spend the summers building websites as a freelancer, to return to the North again for another two winters. By then, Covid had hit the world and via a dear friend he got recommended to visit MiraDomos, a starting project building geodesic domes in Lodares de Osma, Soria. After spending some time here and connecting profoundly with the community, he decided to stay and fully join in the project as an associate. The build of fantastic and high-quality domes in the empty yet wonderful hills of Soria. After building two domes, it was time for a third one… We’ll get back to this, but first, let’s find out a little bit more about Fleur.

Fleur completed her Hotel Management degree in The Netherlands, during her last year in university, she had to choose two different businesses to spend her full-time internships. The first was in a 5* boutique hotel in Amsterdam, the second in a luxurious resort in Tenerife and this was her first experience living abroad for some time. It turned out to be an experience that she wanted more of. After graduating she worked hard to earn enough money to go follow her first dream: visiting Australia. From one thing came another and she ended up staying two full years working and traveling around. Beginning in the bigger cities, to then explore more and more rural areas, where she discovered her love for nature even deeper. After returning to The Netherlands, she continued working in hotels, hostels and restaurants, from luxurious to cozy businesses. Regardless of the fact that she enjoyed giving good and warm service to the guests, with some little travel trips in between, there was always a desire to head off again, to explore, learn, work and live elsewhere. One great day, she decided to go follow another dream; working with natural materials, working with her hands. The search began and as you may guess, here our stories start to melt together, she found a project to help in the building of a wooden dome from scratch in Soria, Spain.

So there we are! Building the third dome together with Carlos’ associates and great friends, plus the help of another few volunteers. As said before, a project to start from scratch. From pouring the concrete base, cutting and sanding the numerous pre-loved and used woods that used to be a cabin on those same lands, to an intense weekend of building up the main structure. From setting up solar energy panels and installing its system, to pulling the 80-meter-long electricity cables underground and laying and connecting the water pipes, so that it would be a fully functioning dome. From fitting all the insulation to laying the bathroom tiles and the floor. Working hard and working long hours in the hot sun, but always making time to enjoy a nice home-made dinner together. Everything done with our own hands, a demanding project in many ways, yet what an outcome! After 8 months, we had the third luxurious dome ready which is now a successful place to rent and look at the stars right from your bed. Read more in our next blog!
